Sep 11, 2013 Media Conference: National Release of Study Results on Culturally Enriching Field Trips Monday, September 16, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The Educational Value of a Cultural Field Trip When Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art launched its School Field Trip program in 2012, offering sponsored trips at no cost to schools, researchers at the University of Arkansas recognized the opportunity to conduct a first-of-its-kind study. The team researched the effects of a one-time visit to the museum on the K–12 school population, involving 10,912 students and 489 teachers at 123 different schools throughout the region. The study is the largest and most rigorous examination ever conducted of school tours to an art museum. Researchers found that the effects were significant, and offer implications for everyone from parents to policymakers. As the research team launches the national release of the results, join us online to learn about the study, outcomes and implications first hand.
