Everything we do has an impact, and our actions do not just impact ourselves. In the Actions Speak Louder than Words kit, artist Kerry James Marshall’s 1995 painting Our Town draws students into an essential conversation about community and identity. The questions encourage students to go beyond equality and think more about equity. In the 1992 artwork Mischief: Indian Land Series, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith dives into a conversation around the idea of stereotypes using bold colors and textures. The artwork questions how popular culture has introduced Native American communities and seeks to start a dialogue toward change.
