A Guide to Summer at Crystal Bridges
Summer at Crystal Bridges is your perfect getaway for creativity, connection, and outdoor fun with family and friends!
From the little ones to the young at heart, there’s something for everyone to enjoy around our expansive campus. Not sure where to start? That’s where this guide comes in handy.
From cooling off in the galleries to making memories under the stars, here’s how to make your summer break unforgettable here at the museum!
Must-see Summer Exhibitions and Art
As you plan your activity-packed summer of fun, be sure to catch KAWS: FAMILY before it closes after July 28! This is KAWS’s first solo show in Arkansas, and it’s full of bold, larger-than-life works that’ll leave you smiling, thinking, and snapping plenty of pics.
From vibrant paintings and eye-catching sculptures to reimagined ads and unique collaborations, the exhibition dives into the world of KAWS’s iconic characters. These figures feel like old friends—each with its own personality and story to tell. The show takes its title and themes from the FAMILY (2021), a playful and heartfelt sculpture that depicts KAWS’ characters coming together for a classically-posed family portrait. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just curious to see what the buzz is about, now’s the perfect time to discover this iconic artist!
You can also tame your temperature indoors by exploring our permanent collection in our galleries, which spans over five centuries. Stay up to date with the latest gallery information by downloading the Bloomberg Connects app, where you can access our digital guide and discover what’s currently on view. It’s perfect for keeping track of rotating artworks throughout the year.
Summer Trails and Outdoor Adventures
Summer is a lush and vibrant time to explore Crystal Bridges’ trails. The shaded paths provide a cool escape, while the grounds burst with greenery and colorful blooms—like Black-eyed Susans along the East Terrace Switchback and North Lawn Trail and bright orange milkweed on the Art Trail—among other plants that you can identify with our nifty Plant Guide.
Keep your eyes peeled for pollinators flitting among the flowers—it’s a great time for butterfly sightings!
Looking for the perfect picnic spot? The Campus Parking Plaza offers plenty of space to relax and unwind. And if you’re visiting with kids (or just want to cool off yourself), our small Splash Pad is open during museum hours. It’s a refreshing way to avoid the summer sizzle while still enjoying some outdoor fun.
To navigate your best trail experience, the Bloomberg Connects app has you covered with outdoor maps and trail info. Whether you’re seeking a shady stroll, a scenic picnic, or a splash of summer fun, our expansive grounds are a go-to summer day getaway for both natives of Northwest Arkansas and for those just passing through.

Kids and teens can unleash their imaginations at our summer camps, where they’ll explore art, nature, and hands-on activities designed to inspire and engage. With camps tailored for a range of age groups, it’s a perfect way to keep the creativity flowing all summer long.

Visitor Info
With no specific dress code, you can always come to Crystal Bridges as you are—however, considering the weather is key to staying comfortable throughout your visit! Summer in Bentonville brings the heat (and humidity!), so dress accordingly to keep cool, especially as you explore the museum’s outer grounds.
Keep in mind that summer hours start earlier (we’re open an hour earlier from Memorial Day through Labor Day), giving you more time to beat the midday heat.
Storms can pop up during this season, and some can be severe. For updates on event closings or rescheduling due to weather, check the inclement weather line or follow us on social media. In emergencies, tornado shelter areas are available indoors, and Guest Experience associates are ready to assist.
If you plan to enjoy our outdoor trails, stay hydrated, and don’t hesitate to take breaks—there’s plenty of seating along the way. Summer is all about taking it at your own pace, so come ready to explore your way and enjoy!
No matter the season, and whether you’re exploring inside or out, we are committed to providing a comfortable and accessible experience for visitors of all ages and abilities. Complimentary wheelchairs and walkers are offered at Guest Services and service animals are welcome, in addition to other accommodations we have for various programs, like assisted listening devices and sign language interpretation. Find out more on our Museum Accessibility page.
