No matter your discipline, storytelling is at the heart of teaching. Whether you’re sharing the story of our nation’s history or walking students through the logic of a math problem, the craft of narrative has a place in your classroom. And we want to help you explore that craft through art.
Join us for a Saturday Teacher Retreat focused on the power of narratives. We’ll explore our temporary exhibition In American Waters: The Sea in American Painting and discuss the stories, history, and emotional journeys shared in the exhibition, all while creating our own narratives inspired by the works of art we encounter. Later, we’ll journey back to the studios to create an artistic response based on our travels. You’ll be able to talk with museum educators about applying your experiences to your classroom curriculum and give yourself a creative outlet in the process. We hope you’ll join us.
