Bring out your inner artist in this adult creative workshop! Inspired by our new exhibition Diego Rivera’s America and led by artist, muralist, and guest instructor Alan Rodriguez with Razo Studios, we’re learning how to transform small sketches into large-scale artworks and murals. Come discover how muralists like Rivera and Rodriguez plan and create their works, how to think about size while sketching and planning a work, create a large-scale work of your own. Along the way, you’ll get step-by-step guidance from an experienced muralist to help your vision come to life.
Beginner-friendly, this program is open to all experience levels and includes all necessary supplies.

Alan “Toxic” Rodriguez is a first-generation, Mexican, self-taught interdisciplinary visual artist in Northwest Arkansas. Alan is primarily known for his vibrant public art murals that celebrate Mexican culture and identity, with practices in the mediums of illustration, acrylic painting, woodburning and metalworking. His commissioned work can be found at the Artists Barbershop at the intersection of Sunset & Thompson (Springdale, Arkansas), 8th Street Plaza (Rogers, Arkansas), Terra Studios (Fayetteville, Arkansas), and CACHE’s OzCAST (online). Alan’s most recent partners have included TASC, Latinx Theatre Project, Arkansas United, and Dedicated Studios.
When he’s not working on his visual art, Alan writes and performs hip-hop. Alan was an invited 2022 panelist for the Latine Artist Panel organized by the University of Arkansas Latin American Studies, and he is a Mid-America Arts Alliance Artist INC Fellow 2020. Alan credits Jose Hernandez (Little Rock, Arkansas) and Jamie Ulick (Fayetteville, Arkansas) as his mentors.
